Position description

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at ÂÜÀòÊÓƵ Allison University invites applications to teach the following two courses in French Studies during the Fall and Winter semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.  

•    FREN 3131 - Contemporary Spoken French / Français parlé contemporain (Fall term)  

•    FREN 3991 - Special Topics (Winter term)   

Special Topics (FREN-3991) is a literature course in the applicant’s area of expertise. 20th century French literature to 1950 is preferred, though the Department will consider other time periods and/or themes.  

Both courses are stipendiary (part-time) appointments under the ÂÜÀòÊÓƵ Allison Faculty Association’s Part-Time Collective Agreement. Successful applicants will have an M.A. or PhD in French studies. Native or near-native fluency in French is essential, as is experience teaching university-level French language to non-native speakers.

The courses will be taught in-person or scheduled on-line and involve three hours of class time per week. Anticipated class size for the courses is 15-25 students.
